ANDREA MARTINEZ is the Director of Bands at J.T. Hutchinson Middle School in Lubbock, Texas. This is her ninth year at Hutch and first year as the head band director. Ms. Martinez graduated from Texas Tech University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Music with Teacher Certification. She studied horn under Christopher M. Smith and performed with the TTU Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Her primary music education professors were Dr. Keith Dye, Dr. Janice Killian, and Dr. Eric Allen. In her first year of teaching, Ms. Martinez was the Assistant Band Director at Lincoln Middle School in San Angelo, Texas. Her main educational/musical interests are beginner-level brass instruction, wind ensemble & orchestral conducting, and playing the horn. She is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the International Horn Society.
