ANDREA MARTINEZ is the Director of Bands at J.T. Hutchinson Middle School in Lubbock, Texas. This is her eleventh year at Hutch and third year as the head band director. Ms. Martinez graduated from Texas Tech University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Music with Teacher Certification. She studied horn under Christopher M. Smith and performed with the TTU Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and her primary music education professors were Dr. Keith Dye, Dr. Janice Killian, and Dr. Eric Allen.
Prior to her time at Hutch, Ms. Martinez was the Assistant Band Director at Lincoln Middle School in San Angelo, Texas. Currently, she has been serving as conductor of the Lubbock Youth Orchestras Wind Ensemble since Fall 2024. Her main educational and musical interests are beginning brass instruction, wind ensemble & orchestral conducting, and playing in musical theatre pit orchestras.
In her free time, she enjoys watching soccer (all leagues, but the Bundesliga and FC Bayern hold a special place in her heart) and spending time with her pets, Mischa and Bowser.
